When physics uses the term work, it refers to some value that describes how effective a force is able to move the object according to the direction of that force. This is the formula:
The technical way of computing this is to:
- Multiply the force F with the displacement of the object s.
- Compute the cosine of the angle between F and s.
- Finally, multiply what you get what you got from #1 and #2.
