When physics uses the term work, it refers to some value that describes how effective a *force* is able to move the object according to the direction of that force. This is the formula:

The technical way of computing this is to:

- Multiply the force
**F** with the displacement of the object **s**.
- Compute the cosine of the angle between
**F** and **s**.
- Finally, multiply what you get what you got from #1 and #2.
